I'm just wondering who has joined Alex Jones in his effort to bring together everyone to rent Red Camera packages in NY for $600? He states that you need to take $600/day for a complete package including support plus pay his new management company 25% of all rentals.

Sincerely,
Michael

Do you have a link to this? I'm not understanding why 25% would have to be paid to him.

Under the guise of a local 600 group of ACs (which aside from himself he won't name anyone) with Red Cameras he claims they have all banded together to form a new rental company in NY. He claims to want to put a Red in the hands of every production that would use an HVX or other Prosumer camera such as shorts and student films. So he wants "The ROM {Red Owner's Management} Group's goal is to put a RED in every HVX and EX enthusiasts hand for $600/day including CF recording media, mounting hardware, viewfinder, and zoom lens."

and he further says

" The ROM Group will take 25% of all rentals which includes pickup/check-out/check-in/drop-off services."

and

"As for insurance, our initial phases will service only those with insurance but in the future we do plan to offer our own insurance package."

I just thought it was interesting what people are trying to do.

Sincerely,
Michael Siegelman

Do I care... absolutely. I would be stupid not to care. Mark I would hope you care about what everyone in the market is doing. In this case though I find it more laughable then something to make me nervous about being competition. Part of my curiosity is if Alex's concept is working and if your Alex its a great concept, if your anyone else I don't see as being so.

On a side note...I do know that Marque (my boss) is pissed that Alex is playing it off as if this were some union endorsed effort, but thats something for those union guys (not me) to deal with.

Sincerely,
Michael Siegelman

This is just dumb... W[ho]TF is Alex Jones anyway? Is there a link to this nonsense?

...I just want a link so I can read the BS about paying the guy's management company a 25% fee. LOL. Everyone should send him a bag of dog shit.

What- pushy business tactics in NYC? That could never happen.... :construction: That said this is a silly effort. There's no incentive to join up with a unionized, price fixed coalition of camera renters other than to the guy getting the 25% protection money. Is this Tony Soprano or what?

It sounds somewhat like an effort to stabilize freefalling rental prices for owner/operators.

I doubt it will amount to much, but I don't think he's ridiculous for trying.

I agree. seems kinda silly, but there might be some value in it for some.

It's the 25% to Mr. Alex that makes the whole thing lose credibility. wtf is that all about?
