Hello everyone,
NAB was the first time I'd heard of Red and was very impressed. I'm looking at purchasing a HD versatile camera, quick and easy to use. As a non-experienced operator would I be diving to deep with a red camera? Am I limited to fewer accessories and expandable options? What are some overall pro's and con's?
Thanks

Some additional info would help us advise you:
What would you be shooting?
How would you want to edit your footage?
Do you need to archive all your raw footage?
What is your budget?

Oh sure...
Shooting a lot of sports, interviews, promo's, and concerts. Possibly some Broadcast and Studio work as well, but thats more in the future.
editing would all be in FCP.
would need to archive footage to be reused in other projects.
Budget is not really a concern, just hoping to keep it reasonable.

If you are serious about professional involvment then I don't think RedOne is too much. In fact it's versatility and modularity combined with it's pricetag make it an excellent place to start.
If you are wanting something for occassional, hobby use then it's possibly overkill (Though if you have the money I can think of a lot worse things to put it into as a hobby!!!).
There are far more Pro's to a RedOne than the con's of prosumer camcorders, even when considering the price difference.
Another good place to begin is at www.dvxuser.com, in the Red News section and read some of the archive discussions about the camera and the kinds of questions that were being banded about when no one knew anything about the camera.
