What are some good mixers other than the sounddevices mixers.. I can't seem to checkout a 302,MM1, or a Mixpre from B&H because SD won't allow international sales. I did contact the local SD reseller.. but they wont pick up any of their calls.

Azden.. any good? I did not like the analogue meter on em.

Budget is $650 max.

I don't like the Azden stuff. I'd seriously give the Sound Devices another try or also look at Wendt or some of the Shure models.

I have used the Azden 3 CH mixer ($350) with a Tascam HD-P1 and it worked great.
controlled spikes and pops... was easy to use and light... probably wont last for more than a year, but for $365 USD>.. who cares?

Sound Devices is in a league of its own and fantastic... but I think its more PRO
sound guy gear... and for $6000 versus $600... not a fair comparison.

Check out the following:
Azden FMX42
Rolls MX422
ENG44

I'm in the process of deciding with those myself. I wish I had the money to get the Sound Devices but hey there are expensive but you pay for great and I mean great quality.

The PSC DV-ProMix 3 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/300798-REG/PSC_FPSCDVMIX3_DV_PROMIX_3_.html) is way better option than above mentioned in the price range (below $500). A little bit more money but a way better piece of equipment...

I meant to list that one as well. I had that written on my paper. Sorry about that but good thing you brought it up. Yeah I seen one on Ebay for a pretty good price. If you don't mind me asking. Which mixer are you using?

Nicole,
I just got rid of my old Wendt X5 mixer, sold it for $2000 last week. And I'm replacing it with a SD 788t/CL-8. On my second sound kit I use a Sound Devices 302 with a Lectrosonics SRA & a Sanken CS1 boom mic...

You may want to consider buying used equipment... Try Oleg Kaizerman's site:

That CL-8 is like a controller for the 788/T right? One other question since SD makes pretty good products you don't use a mixer with it or no? I was thinking of having a mixer and then running from that into the recorder and from the mixer into the camera as well. Based on the Productions call.

Thanks

With a CL-8 connected to the SD788t you don't need a mixer anymore. The CL8 adds a bunch of features like slate mic, dedicated function buttons, mixing faders, virtual recording tracks...
