Kind of scary looking, actually! But the image quality looks fine. Is this heavily processed, slightly, not at all...?

Edit: I'm guessing some significant curves adjustments have been made, some desat... Will look forward to more sample images as they become available!

Last I heard no RED cameras will have a global shutter. The goal was to get the rolling shutter to be slightly faster than the shutter on a film camera. If I recall the numbers correctly if a number 4 is film, Monstro will be 3 and X will be about 6 or 7, with current RED ONE sensor is somewhere at about 10 or 12. Relative to a D90 which is closer to 50. Based upon this figure, rolling shutter is better than global shutter! Jarred or RED please correct me if I'm off.

WOW that is VERY good news for Epic buyers and a great move to keep everyone happy!

I believe it... it it were Scarlet S35 it would be reason for a complete freakout on my part but that shouldn't happen, Mysterium-X is plenty awesome for $7,000, and $9,750 gets you the DR of Monstro, extra resolution and FF35... I love how the pieces keep falling into their paces... the lineup gets sexier every day!

Roberto Lequeux

OMG, dam u webmaster! hehe... well I never assume anything till we get official confirmation in the form of a Red Team member's post but I think this smiley is a must anyway: :waaa:

'sall good though, I can't even think about dreaming that I am thinking about an Epic anyway. :sarcasm: And I have not the slightest clue about what the rental rates will be... And talk about confusion! So may different brains, so many specs, costs, modules... by the time average rates are established Red will be putting out the next generation of sensors anywhhay.. :bleh:

Is Red working on a Monstro sensor for 2/3-inch Scarlet?

SURGEON GENERAL: Holding your breath for this has been linked to all kinds of health hazards.

I am ready to bet my manhood agains this. Well not till something bigger and meaner comes out, cause we might get it then.

...thinking 5k is not so forgiving on actor's faces...pull out the FF filter perhaps?

Looks killer though. Is the dynamic range increased in this sensor/shot?

According to paper, it should have an additional stop or two.

David Mullen ASC

Aren't the terms "2/3" sensor" and "Monstro" somewhat contradictory? It makes sense to call a FF35 sensor "Monstro" but if you chop it down to 2/3" maybe it should be renamed "Mini-Monstro"...

Why no 2/3-inch Monstro? A 2/3-inch 3,072 x 1,728 Monstro would be ideal.

I agree, it would be bad ass, but I think it would diminish the gear of those who pony up the most money. We are already getting insane amounts of dynamic range as it is. Also it would probably mean a much bigger file size which could hurt those looking for an easier and inexpensive workflow, but don't quote me on that... I am still quite in the dark about RC36 Red workflow to be talking about the future.

Jareeeeeed... when man, you are killing me now! 2/3 grabs plsssss! http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I don't understand what you mean by this.

That may be the case now. But Scarlet won't be available for at least 10 months, and that's if there are no further delays. Besides, nothing would stop you from using a lower quality level to reduce system demands.

:D :D Thanks Jarred, the reason i asked, i want to see how it handles skin tone and whether if it's good for beauty shot, sometimes when i think of 5K details for skin, i feel a bit scared. Out of curiosity, i wanna see how it performs.
