Ho ho ho.

If relaxing and enjoying includes editing repetitive on-air promos as well as sleepless nights with a six-week old then this is a great Christmas season :)

Merry whatsit and a happy youknow....

I know! As the saying goes: "with a boy you only have one penis to keep track of, with a girl you have thousands!"

Thanks.
By the way I am soon finishing the cut of a feature shot with the red one built 16 and the avid workflow to import the rushes as well as the editing is similar as cutting a film shot on 35, however, knowing that I am using the avid media composer 3.0, not 3.05, could you give me in detail how could I conform my film for 35 mm theatrical release as well as HD format. What software is needed? many thanks. Francois

I would do a pull list back out to the original R3D files and do a 2k/4k conform - from there you can make your theatrical and HD deliverables as needed.

I managed to create an EDL and a xml list, but how do I conform using Cine XML? The xml list is not recognized.

Using cineXML tells me you want to go back to REDCINE to create the DPX files for a final conform. Using the SCAN XML file from FilmScribe is what is needed there. Follow the directions from cineXML.

There are a more options for creating DPX on Mac.

Make sure it's a scan list and that it's a proper UTF-8 XML.

If you don't get it to work - feel free to send the XML to us at info (at) avocoda (dot) com

There could be illegal characters in the XML. You can open as UTF-8 and resave as in an application like TextMate. See if that helps.

Hello Michael
Our final release is plan as an HD and theatrical release. Using this new way of conformation, what field should I select in filmscribe in order to have the proper infos for the conform. My idea is to conform and export only the DPX of the R3D files used in the film. I also have a few fx such as timewarp, resize; dissolves, flop. Would that will be reported into Redcine? If not how should I proceed? What are the other options you were thinking. I am still in my first cut and have still 50 scenes to cut, but I would like to be ready for a conform for a presentation. Some more help will be welcome. Francois
