"We've worked very hard over the last eight years to deliver consistently high quality content to our readers", founder Phil Askey said. "It will be fantastic to be able to expand and build on that without compromising our quality or independence. With the support and resources of Amazon we can achieve this."

Good luck, guys.

Holy crap! I wonder how much Phil made out on the deal?????? Congrats to Phil and his new-found Amazon $$$$$!!!!! A deal like that would settle all the, "What the hell are you doing 'wasting' all of your time on the internet for???" and "You spend way too much time on that stupid website," kinda comments from possible significant others . . .

Hehe nice Ralph, and yeah that's gotta have been a nice call to receive. I can almost picture the dollar signs flashing in his eyes when it came. Fair play though, when people devote so much time to something such as that you deserve the breaks.

Agree, congrats to Phil. That dude has helped me buy a lot of camera gear and deserves to get paid for running the BEST camera review site ever.

Still, I can't help but wonder if things will change editorially.

Indeed. Although editing out the childish Nikon v Canon crap wouldn't be such a bad thing.

That's half the fun! Next, you're gonna wanna squash the Apple vs. Microsoft beef.

I love that site. It's how I have chosen all my still cameras.

I hope Amazon doesn't muck up DPR. Frankly I'm not impressed with the crap that IMDB.com has become. I'll give'em time but I'm not feeling all that rosy about Amazon's plans here.

From amazons press release:

" Dpreview.com will continue to function as a stand-alone operation based in London."

So there you go. He will still do what he does.. Only this time he can do it whilst being Philthy rich.

Oh, Philthy rich. I thought you were refering to DPReview as a he.
