View Full Version : Red One size comparisons...
I've been keeping my own archive of the red designs (yes I am crazy) and I got a little bored working on some other things so here is a little size comparison I put together. Keep in mind that this is not RED supplied data and is only my interpretation of many photos/brochures and scaling I did. I'm fairly sure that I'm close on most of the dimensions/proportions. Its good for getting an idea of the general size of the body though.

I need a semi-ok beer right now, gad I'm an insomniac.
Nice. Does the semi-OK beer come in a PL mount?
Hey Curt, isn't there something else you should be doing...;)
Yeah yeah.. I feel like I'm being told to do my homework :)

I was thinking that Red One needs a Pabst mount.
CURT! GET BACK TO WORK!
Clay.. I thought you would remember that I already did that :) (old school dvxuser image) BTW.. I promise the matte box I'm working on will be better than the one in the image

I totally forgot about that one! Just as funny now.
Man, it is crazy to think how far this thing has come in such a short time. I am really really excited about the current revision of the camera.
After NAB, I kep wondering why there were not "real" photos of the camera on red.com and I realized that those dudes are gonna revise the models until the second the CAD file gets loaded into the machine for tooling.
Really an amazing process to behold. Also frustrating. RED ONE I love you!

I would love to see that old picture of RED next to an F900 and a Betacam (or whatever it was) in this same thread for comparison. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Curt, looking at your old dvxuser image, I now notice the prototype Red Drive system - with little VF stickers on it! If we'd just paid attention to your render, we'd have known the Red Drive was coming? Awesome.

Does semi-OK beer come in glass bottles too? Or would that end up with the camera op shooting everything with beer goggles - not a good thing!!

I think that's the old control unit for their FIZ... not sure, though.

It would be cool if someone (that has skills and doesn't mind wasting time) would design a RED ONE transformer. I have time to waste, but no skills. Who doesn't love transformers?

Eugene, I don't know if you have a reservation, but the Titanium R is actually a transformer--it turns into a table saw with an Iris that can cut cigars.
Sorry, was I not supposed to say that?

Knew someone who worked as Chris Doyle's assistant on part of of the Japan shoot for Wong Kar-wai's 2046. He said that one of his main duties was making sure there was a constant supply of Heineken on set for Mr. Doyle.
Not sure if his working methods are the same on the various Hollywood movies he's shot, but let's say it's not the first time set reports from some of his shoots have commented on the quantity of beer that goes into the final product. Although I'm pretty sure Chris Doyle plays that up somewhat, too. If you've ever seen him speak, you'll notice that he's given to many larger-than-life statements and stories. He's ridiculously entertaining.
Edit: Also, Chris Doyle likes to operate the camera himself whenever possible (at least on his Asian movies) and judging from what I've seen, he's a pretty damn fine operator, so there may be something to your steady hand theory there. :)

Um, Decepticons?
The Decepticons (known as Destrons or on occasion Deathtrons in Japan) are the enemies of the Autobots, and the villains in the fictional universe of the Transformers toyline and related spin-off comics and cartoons. The villains take many forms, and have many different origins and stories across the numerous different Transformers media, but in almost all incarnations, they are led by Megatron.
