Hi there,

This forum has been a resource of information and a real problem solver for me.
I just received my RED ONE (#4057) a month ago or so and looking through it, how it worked, etc... there were a lot of things you all guys said coming to my mind. My assisstant was constantly asking me "how do you know that" and the answer was almost always the same "I've read almost every post in Reduser.net". How many cameras in the market have this kind of support? Not only from Red itself, but from all the other users? I thank Red and every one of you for that!
Now let me explain a little bug I've found (the only one 'till today) from the /i data coming from my Red 18-50mm lens (metric).
The thing is that the stop and focus distance information displayed in the EVF and LCD don't really match the marks in the lens. The zoom marks are the only that seem accurate. We fast checked the minimum focus distance at the widest and it matched the mark in the lens (0.20 meters) while it displayed 0.16 meters in the LCD and EVF...
Don't know why that happens and that's begining to worry me (and it's something everyone in every shot asks why it's happening). I'm on build 17 (3.4.1).
Thank you very much for you cooperation,
Jordi.

i saw the same on my 18-50 when it was returned from Red ... i could not repeat any focus distance ... 20ft varied from 13-33ft (i/data info) - different every time ...
i called Red ( Sean R) and was told to reload the current firmware ...
after reload it was still off but i could get repeatable numbers ...
the camera house i was at had a look and said the back focus was off ... we adjusted the Red PL back focus and then it was very close, 20 ft was repeatable stating 19ft ( i/data info) ... if we adjusted for it to read 20ft (i data) then the Red 18-85, cooke 18-100, optimo 15-40 was off a little - so we adusted for the zooms to be exact at 20ft (also checked 3ft, 10, 20, 30, 50 , infinity ) ...

Thanks for your feedback. As I remember right now, I think I have a different issue, I mean that I get repeatable distances and I'm quite sure the back focus is alright (the problem shown at the very first moment I get the camera and the lens, and, as far as I know, Red is supposed to send their cameras with the back focus adjusted). Anyway, tomorrow I'm gonna try different distances and make sure the displayed information repeats, cause I'm not really sure after reading your post.
So tomorrow I'll let you know if that's what's happening with my 18-50 or what...
Thank you very much for your help!

Ok,
So I did a little check on my RED 18-50mm and the marks on the lens are reliable for focus, but, then again, they don't match at all with the i/data displayed.
I tried to change it from metric to imperial in the display ('cause I read in the forum that in build 17 there may be a problem with the /i data displayed in metric) but it didn't get any closer...
Not as Donatello said (thank you very much for your help, anyway), the displayed /i data gives me always the same numbers, and having checked that the marks in the lens are correct I'm quite sure it's not a back focus issue...
Please, someone had the same problem? Or, can anyone tell me what can I do to solve this one out, please?
Thank you very much in advance!
