for your INFO ... the RED 18-85 will not mount on the sony F35..
the ears on the PL mount stick out forward a little ( toward lens ) and hit the F stop ring on the 18-85 so you can't seat lens back enough to lock it ( maybe 1/32" off) ...

and i do have to say the Red 18-50 looks excellent on the F35
on my RED when i frame a window i see CA ( lens wide open) around the window frame edges when i focus in/out ( green to purple edges) .. i also see CA using ultra primes, hi speed ziess, cooke 18-100 on same framing ... however when i use the Red 18-50 & other lens on the sony F35 i do NOT see any green/purple edges when i throw focus in/out
i'm not that technical so have no idea why it shows up on one camera ant the other ? maybe CCD vs. CMOS thing ?

has anybody used the 18-50 on the genesis or Arri D20/21 ?
was CA better or worse then when on RED?

any technical explainations why CA would be worse/better on one digital camera vs. another ???

When you say: "I see CA" do you mean in full screen image on just in viewfinder ?

I think the CA issue is about the sensor type...

The CCD used in F35 captures the color information in a different way than the RED Cmos.

This article have some interesting explanations about the differences: http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/aadams/story/non_technical_f35_guide/

The CA isn't about the sensor. I saw Valkyrie last night and I saw CA in that. This is a movie that originated on 35mm film. So how could it be a sensor issue.

Donatello said that the same lens (RED 18-85) show different results in two cameras, one with CCD, other with CMOS... Compare CA in a 35mm film with other lens than that means nothing to me...

Two cameras, same lens, different sensors, one with CA, other without...

I'm not saying that is a sensor issue. I'm saying that can be...

I think it has something to do with the internal processing of the Sony camera...maybe.

I've found that often times the RED HDSDI will appear to have more CA due to the down-and-dirty style quick debayer for HDSDI preview. In those cases, when you open up the files in Red Alert or another piece of software it isn't there.
