Hi Everyone,

I have recently transcoded some red footage using FCP log and transfer tool. The tool is very stable and ive had good video for the past few projects ive used it for. The current project however is the first one ive had with Sync sound coming from the camera as well. The video is fine but the audio is incredibly low, maybe even unusable. My question is has anyone heard of any known problems, either in recording sound to camera, or from importing the sync sound with FCP log and transfer?

It may well have been recorded low on set, but just wanted to know if this is a common issue. This is my first post, so a big thanks in advance to any light you all might shed on this.

Joe

Yes if your audio on the RED One was just in the first third to half of the green on the meter on camera your audio might be to low for Quicktime. Don't be afraid of smacking the yellows in the meter to get a good level.

I have just finished a shoot, and now that I am reviewing the footage in Premiere, I have found the same thing.

In most clips the audio is great.

But now and then I find a clip where the audio is either missing, or so quiet that I can only just hear it.

Fortunately we recorded all the sound to a digital audio recorder too, so we are not in trouble. But it is strange.

Also, my sound engineer commented that there is no indication as to how many dBs each marking on the small audio display on the screen show.
