Hi everybody!
I shot a project with fairly long takes in 4k 16:9. So I got multiple r3d-files (It seems 2GB is the maximum filesize - having to do with the filesystem, I suppose?!?) per take that still get played back fine thru ONE proxy per each framesize.
I used the 2k-proxy for editing in FCP (thanks, Big T. for your workflow hints!!), which worked okay apart from some green frames every once in a while - luckily those are not in the original r3d file.
I exported the 33-min sequence via Automatic Duck (as an .xml), imported that into AE (thru Automatic Duck Pro Import), and replaced the 2k-Proxy-QT with the 4k-Proxy-QT manually, set the composition settings to 4k 16:9. Everything works fine: repositioning, cc, graphics-overlays, ect. As a last step, I dropped that 4k-comp into an HD1080p-comp and scaled it (47%) and added a bit of grain - looks great up to here.
Render took 13 hrs on an 8core mac w/ 16GBs of RAM.
Outputfile ProResHQ - and here it comes: AE rendered 1 or 2 black frames in irregular intervals (not in the graphics overlays) flickering thru the clip. What's up with that??
Now, since CS4 supports R3D natively, is there way to consolidate these multiple 3rd-files to just ONE, as there ONE proxy-qt (that could then be exchanged with the corresponding R3D-File)?? Maybe that gets me around those buggy black frames?
Any ideas?
Cheers!
