View Full Version : DNxHD Fast Import in RedCine

Has anyone been able to export DNxHD quicktimes out of RedCine and get a true "fast import" into Avid?

So far, we've only been able to get "fast import"able quicktimes out of RedRushes. We get "Creating Video from QT" imports from RedCine, which, aside from the longer time to import, also means that there's some transcoding going on, rather than just rewrapping. (If I understand correctly)

Using Media Composer 3.1.1 and RedCine 3.1.2 on OSX 10.5.5.

I've searched all over the forums and can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether this is possible. I apologize if this has been addressed directly elsewhere.

Thanks-

Interesting that there is a difference. I will need to check in with the RED folks on that one.

redcine will not give a fast import, it hasnt been updated in a long time and does not support selecting a specific resolution of dnx that will fast import.

rushes will support the fast import as you have found. also these days red rushes is close to streamclip as making fast import dnx qt's for MC offline, not as fast, but a one stop solution finally.

I use RedRushes for offline and Redcine for online. I have also not been able to fast import anything from Redcine - but it works in RedRushes.
Good find! I didn't think about it until you mentioned it.

If you are using MC or Symphony past 3.? Switch to interlaced to get fast import...

Unfortunately it will truncate (to 8bit) when you switch back to P.

Redcine is incorrectly tagging the Quictimes!!

I would recommend Monkey extractor for the moment till they sort out RC.

I'm not sure I follow - where exactly am I switching to interlaced?
