Drive Doesn't Mount Unless Camera Power is Cycled (build 16 & 17)

Recently my camera went out on a rental and came back with an issue where the drive isn't recognized unless the camera is powered off and the powered back on. Every time I swap a drive (not CF card) I need to cycle the camera power. The CF cards can cycle w/no issue. I have tried two different drive cables and three different drives. I am running build 17, but this happened while using 16. The upgrade to 17 didn't help. I have tried resetting factory settings and everything.

Any suggestions?

they told me to do a camera reset, upgrade the build. Nothing worked. It looks like I'll have to send the body in.
