View Full Version : 2 EVFs or 2 LCDs simultaneously ?

Hey,
just wondering if its possible to connect two same types of display at those 2 connectors. They seem to offer more or less the same and have the same connector. But I read something about different resolutions, prepped inside the cam, not on the display, so the output res would be different/specific for that device.
Apart from that to my understanding it should be possible.

Pretty sure both are 720p so I would've thought given you can use one of each at the same time that using two of one wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

It should be possible to run two EVF's if you wanted to do that.

keewl. Sounds like Quadrophenia to me :w00t:
thanks

Pretty sure both are 720p...
I think the EVF is 1280x800 [with 720p viewable image] and the LCD is 1024x600 [with 1024x576 viewable image]. The 576 number is based on 16:9 math from the LCD's resolution, but I'm pulling the other numbers from memory of posts on here.

Hi Brook,
I also mean to remember its different res's, and remember them more or less too with those numbers.
I assume neither the LCD nor the EVF do input scaling as at least the LCD has little space for big electronics. That again accords to my memory of NAB that the electrically identical outputs are scaled differently. Don't remember the person I talked to though.
Hence my question if exchanging them, or lets say connecting the wrong one to the right connector (or vice versa  ) or even two same devices would work.

I was thinking the EVF was 1280x1024 like the Accuscene models... It gives a full 1280x720 viewable image with room below for controls / status. ...Was also thinking the LCD was 1024x768. Anyway, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing either first-hand.

I did, as well as Brooke probably , )
(In my memory the EVF was nice, the LCD worked. Haven't really played with it and was not keen on how the LCD performs. Even the best ones could better in direct sunlight. But I have no doubt it makes an appropriate image as everything else is solid.
However, I am not absolutely sure about the pixel numbers, but you seem to confirm that LCD and EVF have different resolutions. Ergo it remains interesting what the output is and how it is processed.
E.g. If I have two EVFs, will they show the same stuff as the output' image is the same and the connected unit does ALL the processing :umm: , or: do they show different images because the connectors are dedicated e.g. in resolution to the specific devices :detective2: ?

I was mistaken. It's 1280x848
To back up the LCD's native WISIWG capability we have two other modes of focus assistance which are available to both the RED-EVF and RED-LCD feeds - which are 1280 x 848 pixel and 1024 x 600 pixel displays respectively.

no problem... I don't care about especially those 48 pixels. Wouldn't mind if they were 800... ; )
a pity Stuarts post didn't answer the scale question, but it verifys that the outputs are different in terms of their use, its not performed by the connected device (had understood it that way anyway and was probably pointed out more than once in different threads numerous times...)...

Ah, there it is... OK, I was mistaken too. :)
