hi all

i just wanted to know how long i could capture on each storage type including Red-Flash , Red-Drive and Red-RAM.
i want to know it in any of the formats including RAW and redcode encoded and in any frame rates , including 24fps and 60fps.

finally , why Red-RAM is so expensive ?

It seems that 4K REDCODE RAW seems to fall between 24MB/s and 27.5MB/s. I'll use the 27.5 figure.

37.236364 seconds per gig.

RED RAM = 64GB
RED DRIVE = 320GB

I'm too lazy to get into the formatted capacity thing.

~39.7 minutes on RED RAM
~3 hours, 18.6 minutes on RED DRIVE.

Now this may not be the case. There may be other things that happen to the drive in this process that eat up potential space... etc. This is just basic math based on observation... the real figures will certainly be below these. Don't take these as fact - either current or permanent.

I think the RED guys have been saying between 2-3 hours on the RED DRIVE... but that's based on my shoddy memory.

A search will benefit you. :)

Yes, they will be lower. Drive formatted capacity is always lower. It will also depend on if you record audio and there is some other overhead like metadata. But that's all small.

It also changes on which recording mode you shoot in and such. Once everything is fully operational and set in stone we'll be able to give you more exact numbers.
