May Issue, exclusive Peter Jackson Interview.

Peter Jackson: "I'm seriously considering RED for The Lovely Bones"

The Good Stuff:
PJ has 5 cameras on order
Had seen early tests in LA
Image quality was excellent
If you shoot at 4K, but want a 'film look' you finish at 2K and add some grain
Working with the RED camera allowed for upward of 100 setups
over the 2 day shoot. A speed that would be imposible with film.

"That was the biggest thing I came away with-the desire to get back to that type of fun low budget filmmaking"

Oh I know, I wasn't suggesting otherwise. But I appreciate the bullet points.

Awesome... I just ordered a copy. :-)

Although Peter Jackson is not the "be all, end all," I think his vote of approval for the camera will really help it to achieve acceptance early on in an industry which is still cautious and somewhat skeptical.

Unfortunately the bullet points don't convey the sense of 'pure fun' that PJ had on the shoot.

There is also a 'location still' credited to one Jim Jannard.

If Jackson chooses Red it will be huge for Red and for the whole business. Huge.

Imagine the possibilities with 5 Red Ones.

The creative and financial implications are enormous.

How can I order a copy? It sounds like something we should have... :-)

Jim! You can rent mine! I'll even throw in a knitted norwegian sweater that journalists seem to hand out to all celebrities when they visit... I just have to knit one first.. and before that: learn to knit... I should get startet!

Now everyone at the same time, (singing out of synch and off tune) "if it is good enough for Peter, it's good enough for me!" :whistling:

Good God, 100 setups? Most shoots would be considered breakneck at half that pace.

Peter Jackson: "I'm seriously considering RED for The Lovely Bones"

"The Lovely Bones" has a huge buzz behind this film!

The script is being highly guarded, my daughter is going in for casting on this next Monday and the audition sides clearly state that they are not from the script and further state that: "No full script will be available at any time during casting."

This is fairly unusual and what is further interesting is that the start date is indicated as the end of October, to Early November with a principal photography period of 3 - 4 months in both Pennsylvania and New Zealand".

Hope this indicates that shipping isn't too far off.

Regardless of the shipping schedule, I'm pretty sure RED would make sure PJ has a camera to use in October if he needs one... :)
