Hi Everyone...

So. I'm working on PC, and I loaded the files to Avid using Batch Import - After Metacheater the Files.
The Original Red Files names were: "A**_***_***_001.r3d". in redcine Original Convert before Metacheater it bacame: "A**_***_***_Final".

I took the files (the convert with the new names). imported to Avid and Edit.
at the end, i took the Bin - Export Via Filmscribe and tried to convert Using CineXML...
But it didn't find no R3d file, so I needed to do rename to the Original r3d files (instead of "_001.r3d" - "_Final.r3d"). And that it worked, and Export has finished succsufully! (I Backed Up Red original files before Renaming...).

than i tried to take th coneverted XML and open in Redcine, like i been explained by the Forum And by Avocoda Website (CineXML), But Nothing... evetytime Redcine write to me "failed to load construct"....

I really don't know what to do... I really need to do the online ASAP....

Will appriciate Help...
Thank You. Tal.

I think the problem here is that you changed the name of the r3d files. You should never mess with the original files from any file based format unless you really know what you are doing. cineXML requires that the filenames are unchanged since one clip often consists of several r3d files (_001, _002 and so on)

The other thing that could be wrong is the workflow in Redcine. When you use Redcine you need to first load the footage and when that is done you load the XML file with the selects.

For cineXML this means that you:

Start a new project
Click "Load all" and select the symlink folder that cineXML generates
Click "Open" and select the XML from cineXML

This is the only way to open the selects in Redcine and yes it seems backwards to load the footage first and then open the XML file that reference that footage. But that is how Redcine was designed :)

I hope you get it to work otherwise I can help you off list with this if you want to. I saw your PM about the issue.

I've noticed that R3D files reference themselves internally (whilst creating my r3d cropping tool - http://helloconradgaunt.googlepages.com/r3dtruncator ), so changing file names prevents them from opening at all, I believe.

It may be possible to create a tool to rename them, though it will have to change the internal references also.
