That is the most INSANE thing I've EVER seen in my life. I'm still a bit in shock and am having trouble realizing this is real footage and not green screen style special effects.
You should title this thread wing-suit flying instead of base jumping though.

That was incredible, thank you for posting. I am still amazed at what human beings are capable of doing with the right of guts and determination. I just can't even imagine flying that close to rock face. Amazing.

The only qualifications you need are no next of kin.

That is the most insane thing I have ever seen...and also one of the coolest. I worked with a guy who was base jumping for us off of a 400 ft high cliff, into the Green River in Utah, a long time ago...who a month later died at that same place in Norway. He hit the wall.
His name was Carl Boenish
Crazy stuff.

Larry, how well did you know Carl?
For those that don't know, Carl Boenish is widely considered to be the father of modern base jumping.

Hey Brook
I shot an episode of a TV series of high adventure shows, one showcasing base jumping, about 20 years ago. The show was built around Carl and his wife Jeanie. We worked together for about a week and camped on a sand bar on the Green River just below the jump cliff. After the shoot, I heard on the Good Morning America that Carl had died jumping in Norway. Jeanie and I remained friends for a while after that, but lost track after a few years. He was quite a guy...we both owned Photo-Sonics 1VN cameras and "bonded" due to that.
By the way, Carl even came close to death on our shoot, where on one of his jumps, his canopy got caught in the propeller of the pickup boat, with him stuck under the boat. He just about drowned.
Like I said ...crazy stuff.
Have you ever Base Jumped? I got to the short list to shoot base jumping again about 6 months ago in South America (looked at Angel Falls along with Moab and other sites), but the shoot ended up going to an Argentinean director, shooting in Argentina (tight budget they said).

dam u... I never get those

Some new footage was found... by a dead body. :sarcasm:

I don't base jump, but I do GC for some locals. I'm not satisfied enough with my canopy control skills to start base just yet.
Omen, I guarantee you that if Dwain was still with us... he'd be right there alongside Loïc and company.
Base is a hell of a sport... definitely not to be taken lightly. But if you ever see somebody land in a parking lot downtown and run for a car... don't call the cops on them. :)

I'd hate to do that. What I might do instead is bring our RED and go to Lauterbrunen and Monte Brento to shoot my friend. :)
