How many "REC" buttons are there on the camera BODY itself (not including the the accessory grip), and what are their locations?

At NAB they had one on the back and one on the left side I think, dont know if that's changed

Handy hint - if you hit REC on the camera left side at the exact same time as your AC hits REC on the back... Red will record 4K at 60 fps. Hense the double buttons.

Sorry that's a lie - if you both hit REC at the same time the camera will record 8K. Sorry for the confusion.

I've just learned that if both REC buttons are activated at the same time, nothing will happen. This exciting feature will not be available on serial numbers 1 through 100.

I thought pressing both buttons at the same time starts the self-destruct sequence

If you hit both record buttons at the same time, it starts punching perfs.

That's weird - I heard it activated the History Eraser Button

it would be nice to have a connection for any remote start/stop button

Pretty sure there is, isn't there? Through the 12-pin servo connector?

The two accessory ports on the back have GPI and GPO pins, so as far as I know, remote start/stop is possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the function is accessible from the USB ports as well... at least at some point.

"The shiny, candy-like button that will stop time!"

...pure genius from John K. Up there with:

"Would you like to buy some rubble neeples?"
"no, but have you got any rubber walrus protectors?"
"Call the poleece!"

This brings a very important question to mind for me... Could be very problematic...

Will the record button on a 2/3" ENG lens work???

Please say yes...

I'm guessing though that it won't since the camera simply provides power to a 2/3" lens, and no communication...

Any chance this could be remedied before the camera ships. This is essential for all of us ENG/EFP shooters that will be using 2/3" lenses...

Yes it does.

We also have GPI triggers that can be assigned to REC Start / Stop, there is an RS232 port within that 12 pin Hirose "lens" connector (available if not used to connet to a 2/3" lens) and USB & Wireless provide the final options. They will probably be brought up to operational status in that order.

YOU GUYS RULE!!!

Thanks Stuart...

I was really worried about that... Though having said that, I should mention that I am seriously considering an S16 lens and the supergrip/redmotor. Any chance you guys could get the prices for the Supergrip and Red Motor posted soon, like before the end of the month when I have to set the RFP for my order in stone??? Even if you just want to give me a rough (high) estimate of the price, and would be willing to take payment on them, I'm sure I could put the "change" to use on other goodies if they come in under your estimate. I think I'll be needing to call you guys abou my order to work some of this stuff out, but any info on estimated prices on those items would be much appreciated...

Thanks so much,

Tim

Cool, good news Stuart. The on/off on the remote ff will be very useful.
