Fixing Follow Focus backlash

Hi,

I have an Arri Studio 1 follow focus, unfortunately it suffers from backlash a little bit, affecting the ability to pull focus extremely accurately. When I follow focus in one direction, and then want to revert the movement, it just won't engage immediately. It's tiny but nevertheless every time I need to use the FF in both directions in the same shot, it affects the operation. MArkings on the disc are also a problem once I start to rotate in the other direction.

Anyway, is it easy to fix it? Can I do it myself? Is there a common cause to this problem?

Hi Mike, I don't know about the ARRI ff but the RedRock had a fix for a similar problem, try doing a search for that and see whether it is a similar issue perhaps. I was under the impression ARRI's were pretty good, it hasn't taken a knock or anything has it?
