Ok I'm sure these have been answered in the forums somewhere but I couldn't find anything-

Are the 4 audio channels on RED recorded separately as 4 mono tracks?

Can any of the 4 be mic or line or is it 1&2 mic and 3&4 line?

What do the white lines and color coding on the right of the on-screen level meters indicate precisely i.e. where's overload and where's the right level?

Thanks for any insights and if anyone has a link to a thorough FAQ on RED audio that would totally rock. :innocent:

The tracks are 4 separate mono audio tracks, each can be mic or line independently. Some apps like FCP tend to treat 1&2 and 3&4 as a stereo pair but you can undo that in the timeline. Or you could use 1&3 and they will not seem like a pair. I will post some pictures showing what the graphics mean soon. When your audio levels bar becomes totally red you have clipped.

Gotcha- so basically aim for as high up on the line as possible without going solid red.
