Space Tourism.. yes, space tourism. What does that have to do with the RED? Well, if you are going to spend several hundred thousand dollars to go into space for a few hours, wouldn't you want to have a very nice, HD-DVD or Blu-ray of your experience? Easily worth an extra $500 I would think.. :greedy:

The key, of course, is getting the deal in place with the flight company. There are several RED advantages to play up.

• Lightweight - Very important when talking about spacecraft
• Long recording time - Flights are under 3 hours - no tape changing
• 4k - HD for sale, plus 4k projection for promotional material. Footage in space (say, out the window) would be spectacular

A two or three camera set up would give ample footage without having to send up a cameraman that would take up a space.

A few companies that are already planning flights:

They will be covering the experience pretty completely and I'm sure that you'll get a DVD thrown in for the $200,000 you shelled out for the ticket.

Sounds like a plan... But I'll wait until it matures a bit. If I'm going to pay $200K or more for a flight, I'd at least want to go to the moon. Maybe in another 15 years, if this whole space tourism thing catches on.

I want the vendor license to make t-shirts that say "My father blasted off into space and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"

Or -
"I paid $200,000 for my Space Trip and all I have left is this lousy T-shirt"

or: this t-shirt belonged to someone who paid $ 200.000 for a space trip - and got blasted.

The wolf is having a bad day.

Foster got some quill action as well.

They just got back from the vet- we've pulled quills before but that was when Spirit was little and Foster is a pain in the butt. We have to wrap him in a blanket and sit on him. This time he had some rather deeply embedded in his cheek and under his jaw. Spirit had actually taken a good bite and he had a bunch of quills inside his mouth as well. Add that all up and the $550 vet bill to get them knocked out was probably worth it. Hey, you try holding down a wolf who weighs almost as much as you and stick your hands into his jaws to start pulling barbed quills!

But they are both having a better day that Casey... she's been gone now for over a week and hope is dwindling. Over the years we've managed to extricate three dogs from the Perry's traps (they tend to no bother tripping them when they've finished the season)... we've also lost one other dog to the wolves... and the ice went out just when she disappeared as well so maybe she got caught on the other side of the lake.

We've gone out several times; on foot, by boat, quad and pickup but still no Casey-girl.

On a more positive note (and more on topic) I've exchanged emails with Mark Cuban about a documentary series for HDNet covering the burgeoning civilian space race. Completely preliminary and probably going nowhere but it would be great to get this covered.
