Yo guys!
I know that a few guys there had reserved RED,
Paul, you are the first one and a few more were followed.
I live both (Japan, US: LA, HAWAII, NY) places.
It's hard to travel with all gear myself.
It's nice to have a RED community in Japan.
I like to travel light: I can bring only RED body and a few primes.
Hear from you guys from Japan.
I tried type in Japanese, but it doesn't work.
Sorry!

Hi Chosei!
Yes I am probably the first person who will have a Red (or two in my case) in Japan so I look forward to meeting and getting together with other Red owners here in order to give the Japanese movie making community the best technology with which to make their films (as well as my own of course!).
If anyone here in Japan wants to contact me early to rent or just chat about Red please contact me via my website (in English please, my Japanese is nowhere near good enough yet!).
Cheers,
Paul-san :)

I've just heard that we (Japan) ordered 12 reds total.
Don't be shy!
We should start our own network.
Be fun!

I'm happy to meet anyone here in Tokyo to chat Red stuff, but my Japanese is almost non-existent so you'd need to have at least some English skills, which if you're reading this, you probably already have :)
Where did you hear about twelve Reds here in Japan chosei, and does that include my two which were ordered when I still had an Australian address and probably counted under the Australian orders? No matter though - twelve Reds in the whole of Japan, even when they all arrive, is nothing compared to the amount that people probably want to hire etc, not to mention my own future expansion plans....

Ted will be visiting Japan in November for InterBEE 2007 (http://bee.jesa.or.jp/), with any luck around the same time I'll be getting the first camera delivered. Might be able to line up a Japan delivery by hand if I'm lucky :) It'll be an interesting market here for the first six months or so for me as I'll likely be the only Red supplier in Japan, with maybe one or two others only in the worst case. Plenty of movies, commercials etc to shoot here so I doubt I'll have the cameras idle for long!

Just returned from two days at InterBEE (http://www.inter-bee.com/en/), the big Japanese trade show (similar to, but much smaller than, NAB, so I'm told).
I got to know Ted Schilowitz (G'day again and many, many thanks for your time!) and sat in on a comprehensive training session, among other things.
I'll post a full account of events from my perspective soon, but for now I will say this (it's been said before but it's true) - Red is the real deal.
Really, truly an amazing camera. To all of the Red team: outstanding to see how much you have accomplished in two short years. Can't wait to see what the next twelve months holds...
Watching "Crossing The Line" in 4K was fantastic. I'll echo others' sentiments when I say it's not film, it's not video, it's something else. Clean, smooth, lifelike imagery with no visible grain or pattern noise. A remarkable achievement.
More to come, I'm too tired tonight to post a comprehensive report.
Cheers,
Paul

Paul Leeming
03-26-2008, 03:31 AM
Kenji, I'll send you an email offline as we're getting the Birger mount for use with my Canon SLR glass.
Koa, I don't know about "taken over" :) but since we're the pioneers here we want to provide the full package to make sure the Red experience is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Of course we have the advantage of being native English speakers too so we can usually get the information first as it appears here even when wading through a 1000 posts a day!! But we have Japanese staff too, making us a bilingual company here for those who don't speak English (I can speak a little Japanese right now but not enough to get by unassisted, though film language tends to be universal so it's not too big an issue luckily).
It's Hanami this weekend so we'll have some Sakura shots up soon with any luck.
Cheers!

Ted and I just finished delivering joint presentations in Asia over the past 2 weeks. We did 3 days at KOFIC in Seoul, then a day at Hualong in Beijing. We parted ways at that point... Ted is spending another month in Asia.
I just did a presentation yesterday in Tokyo for Seika. Seika is also the authorized representative for SCRATCH-CINE in Japan. Seika joins Hoei Sangyo as our two partners in Japan.
The presentation I gave was sold out - about 150 production and post professionals from all over Tokyo were gracious enough to take time out of their day to come hear a presentation on SCRATCH, SCRATCH-CINE, and RED workflow.
Please contact Maki-san at Seika in Tokyo or Choy-san at TJC in Osaka for additional information regarding SCRATCH-CINE in Japan.

In Japan, we have Japanese Red User Forum Bulletin board has just started.
Please check, it's all about the Red One and it's all Japanese language, so you can read and write in Japanese.
http://resuder.jp/index.html

Just wanted to pop by and say hello. Was in Japan recently and Paul let me play(yes play) with the Red lens mentioned above. Have to say I was extremely impressed. The focus action is smooth (why say accurate here - no point is there?) yet agile, meaning a slow focus pull gives you resistance required for consistency yet enable a very fast pull. T2.9 on Red One is plenty fast enough for most situations. Id suggest trying one if you havent yet and are on the fence about it. Wont be disappointed.
Paul Leeming
02-08-2009, 04:55 AM
Hey Noel, thanks for the plug :)
But you're right, it really is a fantastic lens and not to be discounted by those who have only tried the 18-50. Truly they are totally different animals.... both have their strong points (the 18-85 is NOT a handheld option!) but for cinema work the 18-85 is easily in the same class as Cooke or Angenieux zoom lenses!
We've extended the offer until end of March btw to give people enough time to plan upcoming jobs around it, so contact us today to reserve it.
Cheers,
Paul

Been a while since our last update.
All is well here at Visceral Psyche, we've just come off our third feature, entitled "Viva! Kappe" (Viva country boy) and countless commercials and music videos.
We have some big plans ahead including taking delivery of a set of Red Pro Primes once our number comes up.
We also have our full Impero/Birger Canon mount now so anyone wanting to shoot high quality with low budget can rent a set of Canon EF primes for the perfect, low cost image.
Finally for those of you overseas wanting to shoot here in beautiful Japan, we are your one stop shop for everything from equipment to English speaking crew and location scouting. We know the Yen is very strong compared to the US Dollar right now, so we will do everything we can to keep your budget in the black and provide you with first rate service at a recession friendly price.

MX-sensor had upgraded, unfortunately not in Japan, I had a plan to go Japan, but it's an "indefinite" for now. The Mysterium to the Mysterium-X's swapping turning around was just 4 business days.

http://red.cachefly.net/redcinex/REDCODE_QT_v41_b1.zip
解凍して、
REDCODE.QT.component を/Library/QuickTime folderに差し替えます。

Hi, this is Yaz.
I'm new here... unfortunately I don't own a RED, but I'm looking to get one (hopefully Red Scarlet comes out this Fall!)
I'd like to gain some knowledge about it here. So, I'm saying hi to you all!
Plus, I'm currently prepping a short film in Japan, to be shot in and around Tokyo.
Well, this may be too much to ask, but I'm looking for a digital video camera to shoot with. But, I can't pay as much rental fee as many rental offices offer Red One with. If anyone's willing to work with me on that, I'd very much appreciate it.
Or any comment on my past film would be deeply appreciated too!!!

Thank you!
