Curious on the development of the original Red Zoom 18-85mm how it's development is proceeding?

Hi,
It's a very useful range, IMHO.

Good question, It's not on the Red site. Is the 18-85mm still on the board? Or was it replace by the 18-50? I been away, please forgive my ignorance.

Last I heard/read, was that Red are still planning to make this lens, but at a later date. I would guess, it has turned out to be more difficult than they initially thought, hopefully they persevere, but I can understand there are other priorities right now.
I personally hope they still make it, because as Stephen pointed out it is a very useful range, more so than a 18-50. Although the one thing the 18-50 has going for it, is it's small size and light weight, nice for shoulder shooting and steadicam work, situations where you mostly use the wide end of a zoom anyhow.
I'm holding on to my reservation for the time being.
Cheers,
Damien

I wonder if they had some issues making it compact as originally intended at that range. I'd imagine an 18-85 being fairly large personally, perhaps they will announce it as a non-compact zoom later - Pure Speculation.
