View Full Version : Poll: Total Pre-orders come the 24th

The highest public Red number I have seen is 1080. Before IBC the orders were at about 400-500. After IBC they broke through to 1000.

Reservations open again on the 21st. I'm hoping Red will release footage or something else to get the undecided reaching for their credit cards.

In such a short window of opportunity where do you think the final Red pre-order total will be?

1080 is a nice number, but 2540 would be even more appropriate! Tough target to reach though, and in some ways I hope the numbers will stay low. I like the idea of being part of an elite few.

We are not really trying to see how many reservations we can get. We are just trying to slow up the amount of emails from people strongly requesting us for a second chance.

Seems to me Red has been doing pretty good about getting info out - those that are comfortable putting down a deposit pre-release can do it, those that want to wait until it ships are free to do so...and wait...and wait until all the other orders have been filled.

I don't care how many cameras get reserved... Just as long as I'm first in line on the 21st. ;) And no, I'm not one of those people that emailed asking for a second chance.

Yeah I kinda liked being among the prescient "few" too.
Well at least I wont be last in line, and I still have 1080p+++

I was kind of relying on the absolute cut-off last fall to put me in a position to have a unique product, thereby giving me leverage help pay off the gear. So this second chance thing has put a big bug in my financing plans, but I guess it's a good thing for all the slow people who needed that extra time to get their squeaky wheels moving.

Jim, are these new batches of reservations looking at the same delivery timeframe as the original reservations? Will there be any benefits to those who got in early? Just curious.

Sorry Jim I didn't mean to send that many

I used to feel depressed about being number 366, but I feel good knowing that I won't be number 2,366 (no offense #2,366 :)

We're all pretty split on where we're guessing reservations will end up, the poll results are pretty shocking.

Unless I win the lottery, no RED for me.

I was wondering the same thing. After all, we signed up without seeing footage, the recent mock-ups, and what have you. Let's see, $1000 x (the interest we could have earned since the reservation period)... at today's rates that's at least $5 Red should be giving us in extra gear, damn it.

I'm guessing there are a couple of perks still being considered for the original bunch. Of course, the best perk would be if we found out that 1080 of them ship out by May 1st. That would be cool. But, I think many of us took the leap of faith because we have a lot of trust in what these guys are doing, so I trust that that getting in early will still have it's advantages in the end. I have no worries. It will all work itself out.

Yes indeed if 1.3 billion country send some requests to RED will be a MESS.

if they got just 1% of that population sending in orders next week, then Red has a very lucrative future ahead of them. ;)

Way over 2000. RED will be more busy than ever.
