Letting you all know that we have just released a new version of Monkey Extract (2.035 beta).

In the latest version we have addressed a number of bugs around Time Remap in both EDL and FCP XML. We have also added support for Avid Filmscribe XML (import only).

I've added some extra steps into the EDL parser to bring in R3D Reel Names from comments where EDL tape name has been replaced by something random.

We've added new licensing options as well that make life easier (i.e. cheaper) for companies that need multiple copies of Monkey Extract. Volume license holders also get access to some new render farm options (Redline Script export and the "Send to QMaster" function).

Please download the latest version and give it a try.
I'll be very interested in your feedback.

Very nice - worked with XML from FilmScribe giving you access to all file name in all its forms (short, medium, and long) as well as both timecodes when ALE is created from REDrushes which might come in handy for VFR type recording.

Nice to have one less step to get into Monkey.

Hi All,

I have had a number of questions regarding QMaster support recently.
I've just posted a basic tutorial for using QMaster with Monkey Extract on our website.
To view it please click the Qmaster Support link in my signature.

Thanks.

Craig the Qmaster extension sounds great.... but we need performance improvement with the one machine version. 100 minutes full debayer = 100 hours render is not a good performance..... pse... asap

QMaster will help with performance of a single box as well. It can run up to 1 Redline instance per CPU Core.

If anyone would like to try it we can provide temporary license keys with QMaster support on enquiry. Email us at support@rubbermonkey.co.nz.

I have just posted an alpha version of Monkey Extract with some additions to Qmaster support. (2.040 alpha - see my signature)

* Monkey Extract now maintains its own list of jobs and feeds these to Qmaster.
* You can cancel all the jobs from Monkey Extract now instead of using Batch Monitor.
* There is a progress bar (but no ETA) so you can see progress without opening Monitor.
* Finally, Monkey Extract will handle the batch limit in QMaster a bit better if you have a large EDL/XML. The Quickcluster seems to have a limit of 100 jobs to process so Monkey Extract keeps track of the jobs that made it into QMaster and retries until they are processed.

Feel free to download it & try it out if you have a volume key.

Hi all,

I've just posted the latest version of Monkey Extract (2.101)

The latest version includes the features from the previous alpha version.
I've also added a few of the redline 3.57 features that hadn't yet been integrated such as ALE output and 8 character Reel IDs for quicktime.

I've improved the QMaster management significantly since the 2.040 alpha so if you're a QMaster user you'll definitely want to update to the latest version.
