I have the old school t3.9 Angie 25-250mm that is PL mount but doesn't have a cine pitch gear on it. I know somewhere there exists an original add-on that would probably cost me as much as I paid for this lens to track down. What I am interested in is a suitable replacement. The circumference of the focus portion is 256mm, which means a diameter of about 82mm. Should I just get a Redrock Micro lens gear? Another worry is that the focus element moves horizontally during focus, can you even use a FF with this lens?

I know a number of people have this lens or have used it, please chime in on what you are doing!

the zacuto zipgear system might work well for you. I used it on a huge lomo zoom that i have and it performs like a regular gear. I didn't use the connector, just glued it on.

You might give Du-All a call.
They always seem to have little things like this around.

Good Luck!

Thereīs an focusring for a cooke 25-250. It fits nearly perfect, if you replace one of the screws with a longer one. For FF use gear wheel for Angenieux, 30mm, that allows you to use whole focusrange.
I rented it from Arri, costs me a tip only...
But please donīt shoot below f5,6, unless you need really soft images....

Visual Products might have one in stock. If not, they could make you one for a reasonable price as could Duclos. I saw one on eBay a year or so ago. Wouldn't hurt to check the current listings. You can use a FF with the lens, you just need a wide gear on the FF. That is what I use with my Ang. 20-120.

I had Stuart at Focusoptics <stuart@focusoptics.com> install a delrin focus gear on my 25-250mm Angenieux last year. Works great! You will need a 1" focus gear on your follow focus.

I ordered two of the Zacuto .8 strips as a low-cost attempt. I'll glue two or three rows of them to make up for my medium length focus gear.

I would recommend you not to glue more than one of the strips, but to use a wide gear instead...

so I tried gluing one of the Zacuto strips via rubber cement...no go, it buckled on the first turn. Tomorrow night will be on to super glue...
