View Full Version : Primary Principal points
Hey guys, this is my first post in the lens forum :) I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find data for the locations of the primary principle points in various lenses (Cooke, Arri, Panavision Etc). I'd like to get the distances from the front of the lens to the primary so that I can make a model of the field of view on the lenses.

Hi,
The manufactures will have the data. Bear in mind with zoom lenses it will move as you zoom and could well be behind the lens (or camera) at times! All lenses vary with actual field of view, i.e a 50mm might well be a 49.42 or 50.61mm

Hi,
I assumed the information was for the motion control head to combine live action & 3D.

Well, its mainly for the Mattebox. I think it wouldn't hurt to have on hand for moco as well.
