Hi all, proud new UK owner here (or will be sometime in the next millenia!)

I was just wondering, since there aren't any definitive threads on the subject, what options folks think they will use for video village.

The Panasonic BT-LH1700WE seems to be a fairly standard HD choice to feed off the onbaord HDMI:

Although I suppose there is the option of cabling from the onset rushes laptop (if there is one) and watching selected rushes back chopped together rough cut style.

Any tips on good, cheap kit?

When you say "HDMI", do you mean HD-SDI? That model doesn't have HDMI.

Depends what QC you need on set.. maybe start saving for the new Sony?

Thats a great monitor. Has a waveform built in also. We use it consistently now as a vid village monitor (film & digital). It has a lot of quantizing issues but otherwise is great. durable, and has 12V input. Not super bright though in daylight. NB it's a 1280x720 panel I believe.

Sorry, did mean HD-SDI

Its the one I've come into contact the most often, although as stated, in any sort of sunlight, the sunshades do nigh on bugger all. I guess importing it from america would be better than paying the £3,000 it is in the UK.

Can anyone suggest any other monitor?

Recently purchased the Panasonic 17" for $2550. Deals can be had on this monitor. It's a pretty rugged monitor as mentioned above and I use it all the time now whether on SD or HD jobs. The only thing I've noticed, and not only on my monitor but on others I've used or rented, is they have a tendency to be a bit green. I've not been able to adjust that out with the user menus. Great looking monitor though.

I've had the same issue with green but it is a very handy monitor with the 12v option.
