I wonder how this would work on RED?

This lens uses the over/under method so in 4K 16:9 you'd get extremely widescreen images, like 3.5:1 aspect ratio. You could turn the Red on it's side and get two 1.125:1 images. This lens was probably designed for use on 4 perf 35mm film so you may have to wait for the FF Epic before it would be especially useful. Pretty cool though, I was wondering if something like this was possible.

I have used these lenses for 16 years. the are made for a 4 perf system. i have made several 3d films with these type lenses. however, be extremely cautious if you plan on buying this lens. they were built with tape and spit, meaning, using them is an art not a science, many many things can and will go wrong with this lens. evin is right, this lens may be relevant in a year from now when I think the Epic will ship. but again, thats if it will work, as i said, i have been working with these lenses since 1993 and although we managed to make some pretty pictures with them, it was Always a challenge to get them to work right, make sure you buy some glue if you buy this.

Dino, what did the big knob on top do? Interocular? I'm assuming the one on the side is focus.

If I remember right the top knob is for adjusting the convergence prisims in front of the split element taking lens. It's been a long long time since Chris Condon and I put those lenses togeather.
Or at least it was on the original ones from the late sixties. I believe the first one was used on "The Stewerdreses 3-D" the worlds first and mayby only soft core 3D movie. lol
