View Full Version : Will the camera be fully operational with no recording media activated?

Stupid question, but better safe than sorry. I imagine a scenario where my AC has taken the Red-drive to a dump station while I move on to a new setup and prelight/block it. For that to happen I need a almost fully functional camera. The optical finder on a film camera always works, even without power, or a mag on the camera, so it's one of those cases analog was a lot faster than digital. Just hoping to keep that pace up.

Well I remember seeing that not all of the cameras on display at NAB appeared to have storage attached... but you could still turn them on and look through the EVF. That may be an indication of what the shipping cameras will be like.

If you were shooting onto Compact Flash and pulled the card out, I think it'd be a safe bet that the camera wouldn't just switch off at that point. ;)
