I am Freelance Colorist and have fortunatley the possibility to try Scratch. It is a strong CC tool and it can compete with the Big Ones. But of course there are "buts". What I really missed until now or maybe not figured out, is:
- How can I bring a 2 differnet shots with two different gradings into the Splitscreen of "Matrix" (by pressing "S")? This is a very important function I allways have in the Big CC-Tool. I need that to compare colors from one shot to another.
- A second thing what I'm missing is, that obviously it is not possible to show the Event-Number beside the Timecode.
- And a third is: Is it possible to lock the the Timeline-Cursor to make it independent from the Tray-Timeline.

What you're looking for is dual screen (in Scratch-ese that's two viewers on the desktop), which is invoked by "D" or "2". If you enter the 'settings' from the Matrix or any other module, you'll see a set of options for Dual Screen, A over B, B over A. The second screen or B can be a second or third 'layer' of the contruct, or better yet, a selected clip from a reference. Which leads me to recommend you to the reference tray. It's not just the timeline. If you click on the icon you'll see a set of options. Create a new reference tray or use the default one. From there you can select clips or frames to 'drop' into the tray and pull up on the second screen for comparison.

Another possibility here is to create 'version stacks' of your grade by swiping to the right to show the slot stack and pressing 'add version', or by going back to the construct and placing the clip you are trying to compare just above the one you're grading. Now in the matrix you can simply click back and forth between the different clips, or use the dualscreen 'layer 1' to show current clip on the left, and the clip above it in the stack on the right.

- A second thing what I'm missing is, that obviously it is not possible to show the Event-Number beside the Timecode.

I'm not in front of Scratch right now and can't remember if this is an option, but click on the timecode display at the bottom of your display window and it'll bring up a list of display options, could be that event no. or slot number is in there.

- And a third is: Is it possible to lock the the Timeline-Cursor to make it independent from the Tray-Timeline.

Not exactly, but if my assumption about your desire to do so is correct, the reference tray should do very well for the purpose of viewing different clips - you just have to add the reference clips before you're ready to do the comparisons. If I've mistaken your need, perhaps a bit more info on what you're trying to accomplish and I might be able to suggest something.

I highly recommend you check out the videos on the support site (your assimilate rep should be able to get you those). Scratch is a very deep program, and it's tough to dig up all the little tricks without having at least some of them shown to you.
