Correct playback?

This might be obvious and is probably already somewhere here in this forum, but I'm running out of time so...

When I record 4K and then want to play that clip back, the RED LCD and the monitor hooked up to the preview, zooms in and seem to be showing the 2K area only. Can't be right, what am I missing?

I've had a few moments of confusion over this too, but the fix is simple- you need to set playback to 720P. It's buried down there a bit in the menus.
