I'm not sure how complex this would be to implement, but would there be any opportunity to add the ability to set the particular windowed area of the sensor to be recorded? i.e. the 4096 x 17** for 2.35, 2.39 or 2.40 or more specifically
the 27** x 2304 for shooting these ratio's with current anamorphic lenses.
...and if that were the case, would there be the possibility of adding a 1:2 correction squeeze on the evf or lcd out?

Don't think it's going to happen with this version of the camera.
You'll be able to go windowed for 2K and below to take advantage the resulting higher frame rates and any Super 16mm and B4 lenses you may have.
I'm pretty sure the consensus is crop for 'scope - that's what I'll be doing

You should be able to set your framelines to the different aspects, and crop to it later?

The camera offers two 16:9 aspect ratio recording areas - 4K and 2K. (Three if you include 4.5 out the RAW port). Any other aspect ratios are derived by cropping these frames.
There are a whole lot of reasons to follow this logic, both from an engineering implementation point of view and also an operational view. As we store frame guides as one of the metadata fields, its easy for a post application - such as REDCINE - to crop the data down to the aspect ratio you prefer.

thats a very cool trick with the metadata. Gets around the old "well I framed this up and now you've used this instead" thing

So, am I reading you right by saying that there will be real time frameline overlays for cinemascope an such displayed on the LCD and EVF?
Also, will those framelines output from the dual hd-sdi port to allow for precise masking of the set monitor?
