Hi folks,
testing the RED - Avid workflow (for a customer) and I simply don't get it to work. Perhaps you can give me a hint where to look for mistakes. I'm testing with r3d files I loaded from RedRelay, as I don't have any of my own. These files are 4k with 24fps or 23,98fps
Here's what I'm doing:
iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 4GB RAM / OS X 10.5.5
Converting to QT and exporting ALE using REDrushes 3.60 (1)
Importing ALE and QT to Avid MC 3.0.5 (also tried with MC3.1.1 and 3.1.2)
Doing some hard cuts, saving Bin (no audio involved)
Making an xml using Filmscribe 24.0.5 (also tried with the ones from 3.1.1 and 3.1.2)
Using cineXML v1.0 (trial version) for changing the xml
And now we are on the point where I stuck: I simply can't import that xml to REDCine 3.18 - most of the times I receive a "Failed to load construct" sometimes the whole application closes without an error message.
I've done a very simple cut within REDCine (and now I understand why one would rather use an other NLE to do so) and saved the xml - then I compared the original xml from REDCine with the one from cineXML - there are significant differences and I think that's the reason why I can't import the xml.
I've done everything exactly following the step-by-step guide provided from www.avid.com/red
I also used a Mac Pro 8-Core 3 GHz with 6 GB RAM and OS 10.5.5 and I also tried the REDcine-testXSLT-MC-Filmscribe-testXSLT-REDCine workflow - same result. Only with this workflow the REDCine application breaks down all the time without a comment when trying to import the xml.
So... any helpful thoughts?
Thanks,
Michèle
