View Full Version : wide angle distortion..resolved when shooting 2k?

hey guys....I have a commcercial shoot next week where the director wants to shoot 60 FPS but also have the width of an 18 or 20mm lens. So, this necessitates me shooting with something much wider....my question is do the distorted qualities of a 10 or 9mm lens still translate in 2K....or will the image be free of the distortion.

Also, anyone know where I could rent a lens that wide in the CT or NY area? Thanks!

Something like an 8-10mm prime for S16mm would be about what you want. The wide angle effect will be similar. Edit: to the 18-20mm on 35mm.

I used the Peleng 8mm at 60FPS in 2K and got the distortion we were looking for. You can see how it translated by watching the short we made for the 4K challenge called "Damage Control" on the Vuze site. It's the second to last shot:
