I was offered a pretty good deal on the new BT-LH1710 ($2600). Panasonic says the monitor has better blacks, 10 bit processing, better motion, 3D LUT, DVI-D input. I'm debating whether it's worth spending an extra 600 bucks on this thing. Seems like it is. I'm curious if having DVI-D means that you could color correct on it without something like a matrox MXO. If that is the case the $600 is justified instantly. Obviously, its not a cinetal, and I'm not a colorist, but for smaller jobs, is that workable for coloring? Anybody have experience with it?
Thanks.

I'd look at the new xvm from tv logic or ecinema's new pro. They do cost more, but well worth it I think.
The xvm 245m is pretty amazing. Saw a demo last thursday.
10bit panel, 16 bit internal processing. They haven't set a price yet, but it'll probably be around the same as the ecinema pro.

You can put the two monitors side by side and see the difference. I think the 1710 answers a lot of the criticisms of the 1700 while still maintaining a reasonable price point (it's less than what the 1700 used to cost). There's also the addition of a basic vectorscope in there.

Absolutely worth it.
I use the BT-LH1700 on most of my shows especially for Red or Phantom jobs. Just get a Clear Lexan screen for it. Very Durable LCD screens.
I am curious to know more about the LUT integration.
