Back in 2007, I posted a thread regarding a lens compilation list because I wanted to know what lens options we would have for RED.
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=122 (http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=122)
This led me to the idea of starting a new website dedicated to cinema lenses for our Red Ones.

Justin O'Neil and I are proud to announce:
http://www.cinemalenses.com (http://www.cinemalenses.com)

For now, the primary focus will be lenses for 4k and beyond..but depending on how things go, we will eventually add new features.

In the coming months, I will add a user gallery with some stills from my own feature film projects I have shot using Zeiss Super Speeds and other lenses.
It would also be nice to get some quality examples of footage shot with different lenses.

I am still working on the "discontinued" lenses section to the website. If anyone has any nice pics (I have some pics of the lenses below but they are low quality) I can use for the website for the lenses listed below..please post attach the pics in this thread.

Matt Uhry helped out with the list below. Any other lenses I should add? (I want to keep it 4k coverage and up for now) I don't plan on including still lenses to the website yet..as I think there are so many dedicated websites for still lenses...but we are interested with including rehoused still lenses made for 35mm motion picture cameras like the century converted canon lenses.

Zooms:
Angenieux 25-250 HR and HP T 3.5 and T3.7
Cooke 18-100 T3.1
Cooke 20-100
Cooke 25-250 T3.9 Mk2 and 3

Primes:
ARRI Zeiss Master Zoom 16.5-110mm T2.6
Zeiss Super Speeds:
Zeiss Standard Speed T2.1
Zeiss Variprimes VP 1, 2, 3
Canon K35's
Russian: Various, but the MKBK ones are mostly optically very good and the Lomo ones are mixed. Foton 37-140
Baltar: Made by Bosch and Lomb in the 40's, 50's and 60's
Kowa: Need to Test.
Kinoptik 9.8, T2.2
Nikon Super Speeds
Cooke Speed Panchros- Panavised, Century
Leicas rehoused by Van Diemen
panavision lenses (current)

a few cool website notes: at the bottom right corner of the page you can set the theme color settings to green or red. Also, the search engine is really nice..just type in the lens brand/type and your results will show up fast and easy.

Last but not least, we hope you enjoy the website!

Add the Cooke 20-60 as a discontinued lens. I can give you pictures of it if you'd like.

Hey Tonaci: Thanks for doing this. I have a huge spreadsheet of cinema lenses. Its mostly complete. I had posted for help in finishing it, but got no replies. I also have the technical drawings and specs for the B&L Super Baltars (I paid a high price to buy it). I am thinking that we can collaborate, but I've gotta ask what your long term intention is with the web site. In particular, whether its purely educational or whether you intend to monetize the info. cheers

Yes a nice "compact" Cooke zoom. We built a custom extender for a few of them to enlarge the image circle to cover 65mm five perf. It looked very good on the big screen.

Great Job guys, VERY informative.

now if every lens manufacture would give you lenses so you
can shoot comparisons... and post video of the same scene with same lighting, so people can make the most IMPORTANT choice... what do they prefer?

Or possibly get quotes from the likes of David Mullen as to more subjective characteristics...

which zooms cut/match well with which primes? etc.

Because ultimately, choosing the right lenses is VERY subjective.

Regardless, this is a fantastic resource... and you must have both been stoked to score that URL!

EDIT: more PRICING info would be helpful if known. Right now, all you have is the estimate of the RED Primes. Even if just retail, the more info, the better.

Thanks Tim! we plan to continually improve this website.. and definitely a retail pricing guide is on our list. I am still working on the discontinued lens list.
thanks for your ideas.. alll of those you mentioned are on our "to-do" list. some user galleries..etc. possibly tests by our lens gurus.

texasmfp, I'll be contacting you shortly.
