red shipping rumors

this is pure rumor so take it with a grain of salt but...

is there any truth that the first red cams will ship not only without rgb but without sound and time code. the only reason i ask this is that i just listened to a podcast featuring dp, jim mathers (red reservation holder #30) and he claimed that his red would not ship with sound or timecode capability. does he know something that i dont or just guessing like most of us?

if this has already been verified or debunked, feel free to delete this post. i was just curious because i haven't heard this.

The two prototypes used for shooting "Crossing the line" were without the features mentioned above.

When RED put out their tentative shipping schedule, prior to the current delay, they openly said that the first 500 units (or so) would not be fully enabled, but that all functions would be available to those owners by future firmware updates.

The first of those 500 cameras would be more limited, and the functionality would gradually increase, I also beleive they said that anyone who didn´t want a camera that wasn´t fully enabled, could choose to wait.

Things may have changed since he made these posts, but that's about the most solid answer one can find on these forums.

thanks brook. i remembered those threads but we've gone for a few weeks now without new info so i figured the latest info could be the more relevant or at least would help to flesh out the red rumor killing team. but i'll hold all judgement and financial decisions until i hear it from the horse's mouth.
