Selling this brand new condition-not a single mark on it-newest lens from Angenieux, the Optimo DP Rouge 30-80 T2.8. It is a re-design of the popular Angenieux 28-76 Optimo, specifically for the RED camera, hence the name Rouge. It is a gorgeous lens, very sharp, and very compact, perfect for handheld or steadicam work.

It sells for $21,000 new. My new reduced bottom price is $17,500.

With the sister of this lens, the 16-42, due out in June, you have the whole range, and beautifully sharp pictures with a very lightweight package.

I am in Los Angeles.

i have not used my RED for about two months, so this lens is still in it's box, like new. that could change in the future, but for now, it's perfect, in brand new condition, it even smells the part.

Lens is available again. New bottom price is $17,000. Still un-used, in it's original packaging. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. NAB came and went, and there where no other zooms like this one, for this price, announced.

the following two quotes are from an email that i received from somebody at one of the top lens manufacturing companies. i wanted to share:

"Also with the 30-80 and 16-42 you have the perfect set for the new generation of digital 35mm cameras like Epic of Scarlet. They are light weight and they are the only zoom lenses that are probably covering the 2.4:1 scope format (5K) on Epic and Scarlet S35 (32mm diagonal). The other zoom lenses like the Optimo film lenses, Cooke S4 or Red zoom are only covering the 16/9 format (4k) on Red One, Epic or Scarlet S35 (28mm diagonal)."

he also wrote on a later email:

"For sure there (are) so many options for PL mount lenses. It's not easy to make a decision on what to do"..." So many people don't understand what are the important things you have to look at when buying a PL mount lens. The 35mm image area is 2.5x bigger than the 2/3" video image area. Any issue on the guiding system of the moving groups of the lens can be seen on the image. A lot of people think they do a good work with cheap optics on a 35mm digital camera. They may be happy at the beginning when the lens is brand new, but they are going to be disapointed quickly if the lens needs service every 6 months. "

I second what the person said and add a few comments. There has been a lot new lenses from new and existing comapany. Some are very well known eg. Cooke, Angeniuex, Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, Canon.... you get my drift.

Some companies that are not that well known have released lenses.

Becareful what you buy. 'YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR'

Also, the customer service, response when you contact them when you have a problem, you send your lenses for repair/servicing and have to wait months until you get them back. You don't want that.

You have a great camera, you want a great lens.

I don't know Lennywood, and I'm not encouraging you guys to buy the lens.

But something to think about. Many years ago, Leica lenses made in West Germany were far better than made in East Germany. Why? because the glass used to make the lens were way better in quality.

Again ' You get what you pay for '
