I currently have a RED feature I am editing in FCP at 2 K. If you import a FCP sequence to Premiere, I am assuming it references the 2K down converted quicktime rather than the R3D files, correct? If so is there a way to get Premiere to reference the R3D files from the imported FCP sequence to take advantage of the great up resolution tool. It seems it would be an easy and great way to bump up the 2K, FCP sequence to 4k (of course using After Effects). Also, I have a bunch of reframing shots (zooming in-like over 50) and it seems it'd be an easy way to reference the 4K original files. Is this thinking correct?
The project will probably be finished in 2K for film out.
Last comment, question? If Adobe works well by using R3D files, seems it'd cut storage needs in half, since I had to back up the 6 terras of R3D files in 2 locations, as well as the 6 terras of 2K down converted files in 2 locations. Is this correct thinking? I wonder what FCP's plans are?
Just scratching the surface of all this new craziness. Thanks for the help.
