I thinking of the cheaper complete kit after being annoyed at the new dslrs limitations at this point for documentary work. I work mainly handheld but need to sometimes make static establishing shots. With the fixed Scarlet is it likely to have a thread on the base to fit on a basic photography tripod. I dont want to have to use rails or something else potentially bulky.

Yes it will.

Just what will the "complete kit" comprise?
Does the "brain" still have a flip out viewfinder?
It seems that most everything is "a la carte"...
I am planning on the 2/3 cine body with the Nikon lens adpter... I'm wondering what package I can get to be operational...
-battery (and charger) - about $1K
- lens adapter - about $500
- viewfinder - about $500
- media holder - about $500 and card - also about $500
- Handle - $?? (does this preclude the need for a battery?... couldn't find price)
So this brings the unit to over $5K not including lenses (which I have) or rails, handles, or matte box (which I would like to have)...
Is there a "package" similar to the one offered on the 2/3" with the fixed zoom?

Not as yet.
Your Nikon lenses will be very telephoto with a 2/3 inch scarlet. You will want wide lenses like 6mm.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.
I guess I need to re-think my approach... either a larger sensor or lens adapters for the fixed zoom. I have a couple of Century adapters (.6 wide angle and XCU diopter) for my DVX and they are really nice. I know the fixed zoom says "8x" but it doesn't give a 35mm equivalent focal length for each end. Is there a place to look that up?
Thanks
Dale

Not as yet, though I'll bet it's a step up from the Leica Dicomar on your DVX (which is good lens for the price).
