Pay your friend for it. Get a receipt. Give your friend a hundred bucks for his time. Your friend pays for RED ONE when it ships.

I had the same situation last year with the HVX... wanted to pre-pay EVS for it in '06.

My CPA told me that unless you were getting VALUE from your purchase, you were skating on very thin ice using it as a deduction. Heck, the IRS isn't even that keen on large equipment purchases on the last moments of the year... if ever audited, they will show great interest in your Dec 29 $20,000.00 shopping spree...
