Wondering if anyone knows how ultra primes vs super speeds are going to look on an hpx500 with the pro35mm adapter. any specific lenses you like over others?

With the lower resolution of the HPX500 and the 'glow' of the Pro35 I doubt you will see the additional contrast and sharpness of the Ultraprimes. Nothing that couldnt be compensated for with a bit of black level and detail enhancement on the camera.
HPX500 is a very fast ASA camera and in most circumstances you will not be fighting for the extra stop the superspeeds will give you.
We have this camera and both these lenses so this is information based on much experience.

I'd go with digiprimes and no adapter.

One extra stop on the super speeds so little less "grain" with the groundglass of the Pro35. Used both, they both work fine. I prefer the ultraprime look... But happy with the super speed extra stop so... Digiprime with no adaptater is another choice but another look!.. Everybody has his taste and needs...
Good luck with your work.

I just produced a feature film with exactly the same set-up. It was shot in New York and Belgrade. In NY we used master primes and in Belgrade we used SuperSpeeds. It looks great. We ended up mastering and coloring at DasWerk and transferring to 35mm at ARRI Munich.

The film is called "Here and There" and it's in main competition at Tribeca this year. If you are in NY check out on of the screenings to see how this configuration looks when printed to 35mm.

We had a full res trailer up until few days ago on the website but took it down and will repost a new one in a few days.
