Premiere Pro CS3... Avid?

Im using CS3 on Vista and it is miles ahead of its predecessors.. At least you don't have to bite your nails every time the spinning sand clock icon pops up.

Have just installed Vista Ultimate on my E1705 (Core Duo Dell) and have re-installed my current version of Premiere Pro 1.5 but haven't used it yet. Was wondering if in your opinion the CS3 is too much App for just a 1.83 MHz Core Duo? CS3's not 64 bit yet, is it?

Hate to learn a new software (Final Cut) and OS (Apple), as well as shell out the cost of new software instead of just a Premiere Upgrade cost.

Also, would really like to stay with the PC platform because Intel is coming with some killer 45 nanometer chips and accompanying mobo's that should be available about the time I need them for editing. So Acehole, yours, or anyone elses input would be welcomed.
