1) What is your favorite movie of all time?
Cinema Paradiso
2) What do you consider to be the best movie ever made?
Too many, anything from Kurosawa , Orson Welles, many from Hitchcock
3) What is the worst movie you have ever seen?
Tactical (2009) - I am pretty good with sitting through bad movies because I want to know why they are bad (and I regularly watch over 600 movies a year from around the world). But this one really got to me.
Bad acting, bad camera work (really really bad - they couldn't even frame the frame and have to constantly chase the actor) really really really dumb arse story. Fake special effects (those from FXhome! beginners). Really bad editing and did I mention bad acting?
4) What is your guilty pleasure movie?
Anything from Troma :) Hell actually no, they are way better than any average so-called indie films this day.
5) What is the best movie you've seen in the past year?
Slumdog millionaire (before I saw that was Cloverfield, before that was No Country for Old Man)
6) What was the first movie you ever saw in a theater?
Starwars - by myself.
With my family was a Jackie Chan movie (which I couldn't remember the English title) back then (I mean in the 70s :) ) watching a movie really is an event.
7) What movie just blew your mind when you (First) saw it?
The first one was "Ran" by Kurosawa - I watched it when I was 15.
The second one: The lord of the ring first one - I saw that in Leicester Square Odeon (London) this is the biggest cinema in Europe. And it's a 36 pair speakers surround sound (install and test by George Lucas himself!) and the first digital projector. Anything epic looks good on this screen. But what blew my mind was the details every where.
The last one was a bit strange - Uzak (A Turkish movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346094/) I was doing a film theory study at that time. The tutor show us that movie during the lecture. It was just mind numbingly beautiful. Consider how little money they have (they couldn't hire a DP so the director shot the film himself) the sound editing to tell you the distance (Uzak means distance in Turkish) and the use of cinematographer to tell that meaning over and over again. Instance classic.
