SCRATCH GeForce GTX 295 HDMI out to HP DreamColor.
I wonder if the HDMI is 10bits out.
Have any one used this card in a Scratch Station?
I wonder if you you can output using the HDMI port for monitoring.
Please help if you know.
Thanks

It will probably work - in the sense that you will get some kind of picture, but it's not supported by Assimilate.
But relative to the cost of a Scratch license a Quadro 4800 (starting around 1500 USD) should be acceptable? Then you could use 10-bit Displayport out to the Dreamcolor.

i think hdmi is not really good with the dreamcolor as it doesn't allow you to use the powerfull color engine of the monitor, thus I think hdmi is oftently 4:2:2
Any link of a brand new quadro 4800 @1500$ ?
Thanks,
antoine.

Actually HDMI isn't a problem for the Dreamcolor as it should access the colour rendering engine at up to 10 bit colour (depending on your graphics interface/card). The actual question is the signal output, of whether your application outputs in YCC or RGB, since the Dreamcolor only accepts RGB signals. See:

Until alternative technologies become a little more mature and robust, I believe Assimilate have clearly stated their preference for the use of SDI for critical viewing.

We support 10-bit out the DisplayPort connector to the Dreamcolor with the correct NVidia card.

Which is?
Good question. The Quadro CX, accelerated for CS4 , is the only nVidia card with a display port spigot that I know of.
Is the CX Scratch friendly?
Is the 5800 shipping yet?

The 4800 and 5800 both have DP out. Lucas has stated that the Quadro CX is also supported in Scratch.

Thanks for the link on 4800 and the pdf about dreamcolor, which leads me to this question: in the pdf it is written "What is the benefit of using a 30-bit graphics card with the HP DreamColor LP2480zx
display?
With a 30-bit/pixel-aware OS, graphics card, and application, the user is able to display
images that choose from the full palette of 1.07 billion colors."
So what 30bit/pixel-aware os and applications does really mean? If assimilate support it for scratch under windows xp, I guess it is a 30bit-aware os? What about redcine?
Thanks,
antoine.

Antoine,
SCRATCH internally supports 32-bit float color space. The DisplayPort is a 10bpc connection. The Dreamcolor supports 10bpc. SCRATCH supports feeding a 10bpc stream out that port.
I do not believe REDCINE supports this.

Hi Luki,
So is it safe to assume that the CX will be on the active support list soon?
