Alan,

You know my e-mail address and extension (travis-at-red-dot-com ext. 7929). Feel free to touch base with me and let me know if you were shooting to a Drive or CF Card.

I think I might get this on a tshirt, it's the most frequent question I get asked.

"INTERNAL FAILURE", in my experience, is when your camera says "please press record again, I wasn't ready"

yes, when you shoot on the drive it happens sometimes, but after few seconds you can record again.
dont know exactly, but seems that in this moment the drive is not ready or write something internal.
red should know more about technical details, but its not dramatic at all.

I got the same issue a week ago. We were shooting in the middle of the desert in Arizona. I had a similar error message pop up but the LCD screen said "Internal REC Failure." I lost image and 3-5 seconds later, the image would appear.

I would just hit record again and it would work. It happened to me about three times.

I immediately thought it was a 'heat' issue. We get that a lot here in AZ.

I was shooting: 4K, Prime lens, full battery, evf and monitor attached, fan on 'hot' & hand held.

I often get the error message when shooting into bright light, like silhouetted shots or sunset stuff. Its a bit of a pain when we've got a long 400/600 Nikon mounted as I don't have long enough bars to add a mattebox, and have to Iris right down to avoid it.

Guess the camera doesnt like overly bright shots, not that I can blame it.
