Hi all. . .

Is there something special to getting 48v phantom power out of the camera? We have a newly-upgraded camera and could NOT, for the life of us, figure out how to get actual 48V current out of the camera.

We turned on 48V in the menu. We turned on recording enable. Nothing. Nothing at all.

We were only able to use the camera with an externally powered microphone.

Any suggestions on what to try???

Stephen

If it says 48v mic level on the LCD then it should be good to go. The 48v does turn off every time you cycle power and I'm pretty sure you have to enable it after you enable the channel. Also, double check your gain. Try 34 to get started.

Try all 4 channels too... maybe one is dead. Also, try more than one mic model.

After formatting the Red disk, I had the same issue.
Then I recorded 3 seconds and then Phantom 48 worked
but has to be reset each time you start the camera.
Unfornunately, this setting seems to have no memory.

Every time you switch on 48v, you should hear a little mechanical click in the cam. At least mine does it.

It seems I am not the only one who wants the phantom power setting remembered after a reboot? Already ruined a shot with that pilot error.

Cheers, Jochen

48v is reset everytime the camera power cycles to protect the camera from damage, in the event you forget to turn it off when not using phantom power.

This is not unfortunate, it is by design, and useful IMO. It does require that you remember to turn it on again though.

I hope your audio board is ok

I'll be watching it. . .

Thanks guys. . .
