I still have some question remaining in my head before making my decision...
I can understand why people would buy RED RAM but for me it's different, price is pretty high and I don't know if I want to add this storage method in my package, so few juicy "addon" featured...

What I mean is, I think I could be really interested if the RED RAM could unlock more FPS with R1 for instance... like 175-200 fps in 2K if I use RED RAM...

But I don't know if the R1 would be able to handle such amount of fps, not more fps could be due to hardware limitation...
But maybe it's only a problem of Disk writting speed ... and with the RED RAM they could unlock such "juicy feature" like more fps ...
and I can tell you that I would be more excited to buy the RED RAM...

What do you think ?

RED RAY is a standalone player. It's not a camera addon.

sorry my bad I was talking about RED RAM...
language problem ... it's not given to everyone to speak well foreign language ...
but my question is still a good question why some juicy addon with RED RAM ...

I know that RED-RAM is made up of solid-state media instead of spinning media which remove all problem if the camera is on race car for instance
but beside that we also know that SSD works faster could be nice to get more fps maybe thanks to it

(maybe my thread has to be moved somewhere else...hehe)

The maximum frame rates are published in the RED FAQ for each type of recording media (CF, RED-DRIVE, and RED-RAM), and the two REDCODE variants (28 and 36).

http://www.red.com/faq/what-are-the-maximum-frame-rates-for-cf-card-red-raid-and-red-ram-recording-media/

It only seems to give a frame rate bonus over RED-DRIVE when shooting in REDCODE 36 3K 2:1 (60 fps vs 50 fps) and REDCODE 36 4K 16:9 (30 fps vs 25 fps). The rest of the time it's on a par with the RED-DRIVE, and both the DRIVE and the RAM outperform recording to CF consistently.

I remembering reading somewhere that there is the possibility of higher framerates later down the track - the sensor is capable, but there's a bottleneck somewhere else... open to correction there though.

thanks for the feedback... I already read the FAQ regarding the fps thing ...

But I thought it might be a good idea to add such juicy addon (more fps) but it depends certainly of the sensor and not the storage ...
Or Maybe the upgrade for the new sensor on the RED One will allow more fps ...
